About George
“I don’t like being beaten. That’s how The Carpet Dye Guy was born.”
For over nine years, I’ve been cleaning carpets across Kent through my separate cleaning business. During that time, I kept encountering colour loss, bleach damage and stains that cleaning alone could not fix.
That experience led me to undertake specialist training in professional carpet dyeing and colour restoration. Some structurally sound carpets affected mainly by fading, bleach damage or unwanted colour may be worth assessing before replacement.
When you contact me, you deal with me personally — not a call centre or a team. Just George.
Worth checking first
Before you replace a structurally sound carpet
Where the underlying carpet remains serviceable and the main problem is colour, staining or localised damage, specialist treatment may be worth assessing. Not every carpet is suitable, and George will explain honestly when replacement is the more realistic option.
Carpet replacement
- New carpet, fitting and disposal may be required
- Furniture and room disruption may be involved
- Partial replacement can create room-to-room colour differences
Specialist carpet treatment
- Priced individually following assessment
- Existing carpet remains in place where suitable
- Furniture and access requirements confirmed before booking
- Fixed quotation before work begins
- Recommended only where the proposed result is considered worthwhile
Where a carpet is suitable, treatment may cost less and involve less disruption than replacement. The free photo assessment lets you compare the options using a real quotation for your own carpet.
Where we work
Based in Kent, with suitable UK projects considered
George is based in Sittingbourne and covers Kent as a priority, with no call-out charge across the county. Enquiries from elsewhere in the UK are welcome and assessed from photographs before travel is discussed. Where distance or scheduling makes personal travel impractical, George may be able to suggest another independent specialist he knows and trusts.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about carpet dyeing, colour restoration and George’s assessment process.
Can every carpet be dyed?
No. Wool and nylon carpets are commonly strong candidates, subject to assessment. Polypropylene, polyester and other dye-resistant fibres may not be suitable and must be evaluated individually. Construction, existing colour, condition and the intended result also matter.
Can you make a carpet lighter, or change it to a different colour?
Dyeing adds colour; it cannot make a carpet lighter. A suitable carpet may be changed to a darker shade or a different darker colour compatible with the existing shade. The existing shade limits the options, so George assesses the carpet and your preferred colour before explaining what is achievable.
Can bleach spots be repaired?
Targeted colour repair is possible on many suitable carpets, but the achievable match depends on fibre, colour, surrounding wear and the damage itself. The aim is a close blend with the surrounding carpet; George will assess the photographs before quoting.
What is the difference between carpet dyeing and ColourRevive™?
Carpet dyeing changes a suitable carpet towards an achievable darker colour. ColourRevive™ is a maintenance clean intended to help maintain the existing colour and slow colour depletion. It is not offered to restore already-faded carpet or change it to a different shade. Existing fading belongs under carpet colour restoration.
How much does treatment cost?
Every job is priced individually. Size, fibre, condition, access, preparation and the proposed treatment all affect the price. George assesses photographs first and provides a fixed quotation before work begins. There is no call-out charge across Kent.
How long will the work take?
It depends on the service, size, preparation and complexity. George will confirm the likely duration and expected return-to-use time for the specific job during the assessment.
Is the treatment suitable for homes with children or pets?
George uses professional products selected for the proposed treatment and will explain the relevant safety, odour, drying and return-to-use information before the appointment. Product safety data sheets are available on request where applicable.
Do you work outside Kent?
George is based in Sittingbourne and covers Kent as a priority, with no call-out charge across the county. Suitable projects elsewhere in the UK are considered following a photo assessment. Where travel or scheduling makes a project impractical, George may be able to suggest another independent specialist.
